Jose Luis Quintero : Hello Chuck, Nice video! I've been working in the Networking for 10 years and I'm currently working as a SOC Admin in a NOC/SOC Team in Chile, everything is Cisco. I can tell you something about the requirements for the job. First, A solid foundation of R&S is a MUST, you have to be CCNA R&S at a minimun to get notice to land in the job. In this job, you need at least, what I call the Triforce to survive and make a great job, CCNA R/S, CCNA Wireless, CCNA Security. Between CCNA Security and CCNA Cyber Ops, CCNA Security is a MUST whereas Cyber Ops is a NICE TO HAVE.

CCNA Security, give you the ability to harden Networking Equipment, Routers /Switches, and also the knownledge to manage Cisco Firewalls (ASAs). Its also important to say, that once you completed the CCNP R/S you already have the 20% of the CCNA Security. So, its a nice jump right away to CCNA Sec once the knowledge from CCNP R/S are fresh.

CCNA Cyber Ops, give you knowledge to estructure of how a NOC/SOC Team works and how the things needs to be done , and this is really important. Nobody in my team has this Cert. Its good to have.

CCNA Wirelless, Its another HAVE TO HAVE, in this era where everybody wants to go mobile in the building, nobody wants to be attached to a cable. This Cert is a great conjunction with CCNA Security.

Honor mention, another skill, Linux Skills! its a MUST!. specially when the company is running out of budget and you need to deploy whatever tool and need to be free. We use a lot Debian distro Kali/Ubuntu.

Splunk Enterprise is a GREAT TO HAVE, is a incredible tool to correlate data from Firewalls'logs and others tools. It can make beautifull real time Dashboards and Reports. For me its the evolution of the Syslog Server. Its really popular, they are few guys who kowns how to tune it, and its big paid.

CCNP Security, its a great to have, this is the PRO LEVEL, this cert help you understand Cisco FTD and ISE as the next level TACACS/RADIUS.

In Resume, the TOP 7 needs are:
-CCNA R&S
-CCNA Security
-Splunk Enterprise
-Linux Skill
-CCNA Wireless
-CCNP Security
-CCNA CyberOps
Sharon Lawrence : My experience: I received CCNA Cyber Ops in August 2018. I was able to have several job interviews with different companies and 4 month later I received a Information Assurance Security Engineer job offer. So, this certification has really has open doors for me.
Marc Young : My CCNA Security Instructor is a Security Professional with CISSP, CCNA/CCNP Security, CCNA/CCNP R&S and according to him, he best way to become a real security "boss" (as you put it) is to work in various areas to gain exposure and experience with routing, switching, Active Directory, Windows Server and client OS's, firewalls, intrusion detection & prevention devices. His reasoning is, it is very hard to prevent people from exploiting and breaking into systems you know nothing about. Also, it keeps you from being suckered by service providers, vendors, or even internal teams like your network or server team when they request you open up ports, grant access, etc. Because they can pitch things to you in a manner that may sound safe, but if you don't understand the technology, you may be introducing new thread vectors instead of decreasing them. His example was a vendor he was dealing with for VoiP wanted them to use split-tunneling to allow for the best voice quality and the vendor assuring him it was safe, but he knew that split tunneling allows the end user to surf the web via his regular internet connection and that traffic will not be governed by the companies firewalls, proxies, etc., so if you click a malicious link, get malware, it could spread to thru your VPN tunnel and bypass your security defenses. So, while I think CyOps is a great cert, you are probably better off gaining a wide knowledge of technology before going into security so get CCNA R&S, Microsoft MCSA, and learn some cloud and virtualization, and do the LPI Linux Essentials training I believe Cisco NetAcad allows people to take for free. This should give you a good broad range of knowledge to know how various parts of the IT infrastructure connect, interact, etc.
Omar Casillas : Chuck! You come in clutch again! I recently passed my CCENT exam (some credit goes to you and your motivating videos) and I've been wondering which path to take. This video really helped clear up some questions I've been having about both of these certifications. Thank You!
Warren C. Bennett : I'm actually looking into going into Cyber ops or CCNA S after I get my CCNA. I'm leaning towards security at the moment, but that decision is still a ways off. I'm currently working in a group home for developmentally disabled adults and studying for my CCENT/CCNA. My goals for this week are to get 2 hours a day in studying and to peg down a date for my first test.

Carleon King : I am just getting into the “real world” of business and have been hired at a job as a sales and operation manager. Looks like this channel is a great place to gain perspective of this field!
Damian Burke : Make the complex simple to understand and entertaining. Steven does all 3 very very well done!!!!! Thanks for the education.
MeMoMa : This is Pure Gold. no matter how many videos I see on this channel, there is always something new to learn.
Anastasiya Scherbakova : Seems like obvious things are explained, and I assume everybody understands that this is how S&OP should look like, nevertheless many companies fail to maintain such a cycle. From my point of view, they fail at the part of "the orchestra". That's the part I liked the most, simple and to the point.
SADOUKI Bouchra : Thank you for this amazing video
